The commercial series
Commercial real estate CE for North Carolina brokers
Every year, commercial brokers sit through Update courses built around residential deals. The commercial series covers the same required material through commercial transactions and commercial forms, taught live by a practicing broker. I wrote my own commercial versions of GenUp and BICUp, developed with the Real Estate Commission.
Your full eight hours, all commercial
Pair the Update course you need with the commercial elective and your whole annual requirement is commercial.
The courses
All three are four hours and approved for in-person and live online delivery.
GenUp Commercial
The Commission’s required Update course for brokers, rebuilt each year around commercial transactions, commercial forms and the questions commercial brokers actually run into.
BICUp Commercial
The required Update course for brokers-in-charge, including the BIC responsibilities section, built for those who supervise commercial offices.

Taught by Jim Weese
I’m a practicing North Carolina broker with Aldridge & Southerland, a Certified North Carolina Real Estate Instructor, and an approved Education Provider with the Commission (#1807). I’ve taught real estate for 20 years, including commercial CE in the Raleigh market, and I wrote or adapted all three of these courses myself.
Commercial brokers don’t need the residential version of the rules explained to them again. They need the same requirements applied to the deals they actually work. That’s what these courses do.
